Have you adopted semantics in innovative industrial applications?

The web of data has proven to be a fertile ground for both academic and industrial research, but transitioning the technology to real-world industrial strength applications raises different, and yet challenging, technical issues. Companies from small to large, are making revealing leaps forward in science and engineering by using and adopting semantic technologies, web of data sources and knowledge graphs. The time is right for the Semantic Web community to revisit and learnt from the use and impact of semantics as competitive differentiator in industry. The industry track provides an opportunity for industry adopters to highlight and share the key learnings and new research challenges posed by real world implementations.

This track expects submissions describing innovations and implementations in industrial settings, in domains ranging but not limited to government, automotive, financial, media, healthcare and life sciences, smart cities, energy industry, etc. Emphasis should be put on demonstrating the business value and impact created by using semantic technologies.

The criteria of this track, which is different than the in-use track, are as follows:

  • Description of real-world deployment experiences and implementations in industrial settings (dates launched and number of users, etc)
  • Discussions on the role and / or impact of semantic technologies in such deployed applications
  • We welcome both success stories as well as experiences and discussions of obstacles that stand in the way of large-scale adoption of semantic technologies.
  • Insights on industry impact and business value, and learned lessons.

Submissions for the industry track only require 2 pages describing the content of the proposed talk, which should be of a technical or strategic nature (purely marketing material will not be accepted). They should be made via EasyChair and will be reviewed by a committee of practitioners with both industry and academia experience. See further instructions: http://iswc2018.semanticweb.org/call-for-industry-track-submissions/

Accepted submissions will be presented at the conference and published with CEUR-WS.org.

Don’t miss the chance to participate, learn about the latest research, and network at the premier conference on the Semantic Web and Linked Data.
